SHIFT EXPEDITION

FROM MANAGER TO MULTIPLIER

“We cannot discover new oceans unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”
- Andre Gide

 THE SITUATION

We are in a time of profound disruption and accelerating change. Exponential technologies, COVID-19, distributed teams… the list goes on. It’s no wonder we feel overwhelmed.

As leaders, we see the need for our companies to be more agile and customer-centric, less hierarchical and more networked, embrace discontinuity, and go beyond the incremental to the exponential.

But we don’t have a model of how to do that; our existing leadership mental models were developed in an industrial age when things were stable and predictable. The tools we learned in business school and the best practices we share sometimes feel outdated and obsolete.

We confront seemingly intractable questions in this dynamic environment.

  • How to transform fast enough to meet the changing needs of the market?

  • How to sustain our own energy?

  • How to keep our teams engaged?

  • How to either keep up with the demand or generate new demand?

  • How to manage the convergence of our personal and professional lives?

  • How to unlearn old patterns and transform ourselves as leaders?

We are all searching for the “New Normal.”
But what does that mean and how do we get there?

THE EXPEDITION

The purpose of this expedition is to help senior leaders across industries and functions shift their thinking from MANAGERS to MULTIPLIERS. Leading in this dynamic age requires a rethinking of the traditional models of leadership.

Specifically, we will discuss:

  • Shifting from managing people and processes to leading with purpose and principles

  • Leading in a networked rather than hierarchical organization

  • Creating autonomy AND alignment at any scale

  • Keeping people energized and engaged through transformation

  • Navigating the exponential growth journey without burnout

  • Advancing a shared purpose, refining a shared identity, and creating shared value with distributed teams

During this expedition you will be asked to apply new mental concepts and tools to the business imperatives at hand. We strongly encourage you to participate in this expedition with a team as it will make the application even more meaningful.
